A Valencia man is in jail after reportedly brandishing a pellet rifle outside a pizza parlor.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a man brandishing a gun in the parking lot of the Vincenzo's Pizza at 20701 Plum Canyon Road, according to a sheriff's report.

Jose Castro, 37, fled the scene in his vehicle before deputies arrived on scene, and led them on a chase that ended on West Galton Road, about a mile south of Vasquez Canyon Road.

He was arrested and booked on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor charges of brandishing an imitation firearm in a threatening manner, evading a peace officer, and driving without a license.

Castro was reportedly inside Vincenzo's when he made unspecified comments to a woman and her friend, then followed the two women into the parking lot.

The two women reportedly went back into the restaurant and asked two men to escort them to their car. When they did, Castro reportedly pulled the pellet rifle out of his car, pointed it at the two men, and asked them in Spanish if they "had a problem."

After Castro ended the pursuit, deputies reportedly found the pellet rifle and pellets in his car.

He is being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station in lieu of $30,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
