In her Letter to the Editor on May 23 ("Spending protests"), Ms. Campbell implies that the Obama administration is giving $2.6 million in tax dollars to teach Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly on the job.

In fact, the National Institute of Health, through its peer approval process in November 2008 (during the Bush administration), gave a grant to a Wayne State University medical researcher to study the link between alcohol abuse and the spread of HIV/AIDS.
The researcher believes his findings will have implications for at-risk populations around the world.
