Sheriff’s deputies arrested two teenagers Thursday following a door-kick burglary in a Canyon Country neighborhood rocked in recent months by a rash of similar crimes.

Amahd Jones, 19, of Palmdale and a 16-year-old were arrested about 12:30 p.m. They were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Minutes earlier, the two allegedly kicked in the door of a home in the 17000 block of Scott Lane in the Fair Oaks Ranch neighborhood, said sheriff’s Sgt. Cynthia Gonzales of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

A woman who was inside the home called the police and the burglars fled. Deputies found the two on the street near the burglarized home.

Deputies are investigating whether the two teens have been involved in several other kick-in burglaries that have hit the neighborhood this year.

In each of the burglaries, two people — usually men — kicked in doors of homes and ran off if they spotted residents inside. If no one was home, they ransacked the house.

John Taylor, a resident of the area who has been sending e-mail warnings to his neighbors, said Thursday night he hopes residents won’t think the door-kick burglaries are finished just because two people have been arrested.

“I think the problem with it is that it might put some people at ease,” he said.
