Two suspected gang members were arrested early Thursday and a third was in the hospital after they beat and tried to rob a man on a Canyon Country bike path, sheriff’s officials said.

Jose Quevedo, 18, of Lancaster and Jose Baeza, 23, of Canyon Country were arrested following a brief chase.

Adrian Garcia, 29, of Lancaster was hospitalized with leg injuries he received as he ran from sheriff’s deputies, according to a written statement released by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. He jumped a fence landed in a wash nearly 30 feet below. He will be arrested as soon as he is released from the hospital, deputies said.

The victim was walking along the bike path when the trio surrounded him and asked where he was from. One of the men attacked him with a large metal wrench. He fled to a nearby 7-Eleven, where he called for help. He was treated at a local hospital for treatment of cuts and abrasions.
