Firefighters made quick work of a fire that scorched two acres in the wash near the intersection of Creekside Road and Town Center Drive Saturday night.

The report came in at around 8 p.m., and firefighters responded from stations 73, 76, 107, 111, 124, 126, 132 and 156.

The fire burned through two acres of grass and brush in the Santa Clara River bed behind the Valencia Pontiac, Buick, GMC dealer, while a crowd of residents watched from the bicycle path along the wash.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. A witness said he saw fireworks in the sky near the area shortly before the fire flared up.
