The city of Santa Clarita continues to draw new businesses into the community, and California Pizza Kitchen and Dick's Sporting Goods can now be counted as some of Santa Clarita's newest retail and restaurant attractions.

California Pizza Kitchen, also referred to as CPK, opened its doors to the public on Monday, May 25 with excited restaurant patrons waiting to take a seat and enjoy one of their famed pizzas, pastas, salads and more. CPK is located at the corner of McBean Parkway and Newhall Ranch Road in the newly opened Bridgeport Marketplace Shopping Center.

CPK joins the shopping center along with a list of other new businesses, including Bristol Farms, Walgreens, Frankie's Italian Restaurant, Kabuki Japanese Restaurant, Red Mango, Sabor Mexican Cuisine, Massage Envy Spa, Cardio Girl, Daphne's Greek Café, Bella Jewelers, Simplese Fine Gifts, Bridge Cleaners, Yogaworks, Threads Boutique, Visiting Angels, Verizon Wireless, Southern California Orthopedic Institute, Bridgeport Aesthetic Dentistry and Salmassian Orthodontics.

In addition to CPK, Santa Clarita residents can look forward to the much-anticipated opening of Dick's Sporting Goods at Centre Pointe Marketplace on June 7.

Dick's is located across from the Super Walmart and next door to Babies R Us. Dick's will join recently opened Easy Life Furniture and Submarina in this new shopping center, off Carl Boyer Drive and Golden Valley Road.

The city of Santa Clarita continues to rank among the Top 25 retail markets in California according to the California Retail Survey.

These two new store openings demonstrate the city's draw to retailers looking to expand even in today's tough economy. While Santa Clarita is not immune to the economic slowdown impacting the nation, these new store openings are additional examples of the city's upstanding reputation in the retail market.

The recently released 21-Point Plan for Progress adopted by the Santa Clarita City Council further demonstrates the city's commitment to enhancing the local economy by brining new jobs and stores to local residents.
