'Primetime Preschool Class' preps kids for kindergarten

The city of Santa Clarita will hold a "Primetime Preschool Class" for pre-kindergarten kids beginning the week of Aug. 31.

The 12-week parent-involved program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten and will help provide opportunities for social and emotional growth, cognitive learning experiences and creative expression.

Primetime Preschool Classes will be offered on a twice a week schedule (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday) or a three times per week schedule (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children must be 4 years of age by Dec. 2, 2009 to be enrolled in the class.

Classes will be held at Canyon Country Park, North Oaks Park, Santa Clarita Park and Valencia Meadows Park. All class instructors are Early Childhood Education certified.

Class costs and locations are as follows:

• $294 for Monday/Wednesday class (offered at Canyon Country Park and Santa Clarita Park)
• $321 for Tuesday/Thursday class (offered at Canyon Country Park, North Oaks Park, Santa Clarita Park and Valencia Meadow Park)
• $455 for Monday/Wednesday/Friday class (offered at North Oaks Park & Valencia Meadows Park)

A copy of the participant's birth certificate must be submitted with registration form.
