Ambulances transported a 54-year-old Northridge man to the hospital Tuesday after he rolled his car off southbound Interstate 5, just north of McBean Parkway in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The man, driving a Chevy Malibu, had a medical issue which caused him to swerve to the right shoulder from the fast lane, said California Highway Patrol Officer Michelle Esposito.

The man rolled his vehicle and it came to rest overturned on the freeway's shoulder, Esposito said.

The driver suffered minor injuries such as scratches and a bump on his head, Esposito said.
