Planning, transportation and the county's budget will get an airing when County Supervisor Michael Antonovich addresses more than 300 Santa Clarita Valley residents during a state-of-the-county speech Wednesday at the Hyatt Regency in Valencia.

Antonovich, the Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor, plans to make a 20-minute speech to address those topics, as well as the One Valley-One Vision Master Plan for the city of Santa Clarita and more topics relevant to the SCV, said Rosalind Wayman, field deputy for Antonovich.

"This is a state-of-the-county speech specifically targeted for the Santa Clarita Valley," she said.

Larry Mankin, president of the SCV Chamber of Commerce, said the state-of-the-county event was the idea of The Signal publisher Ian Lamont. He worked with Lamont to organize the event.

Mankin said the event, and the participation by Antonovich, are good signs for Santa Clarita Valley residents.

"I think it says that we have a very good partner to provide services to the 250,000 people who live here," Mankin said.

For more information about the state-of-the-county address, or to reserve seats for the event, which begins at 11:30 a.m., please contact SCV Chamber of Commerce at (661)702-6977.
