Homeowners should be furious

A friend told me to check Sunday's (May 17) The Signal for alocal columnist piece by State Sen. George Runner ("The water softener bait and switch").

This should make every SCV homeowner furious.

As Runner puts it: "We've all been victims of a bait and switch: a sales tactic in which an item is used to attract customers who, once lured, find themselves receiving something different than what was offered."

Personally, I am a Culligan water softener exchange-tank customer.

But I'm sure homeowners who turned in their in-house permanently installed water softeners for a rebate from the city are probably furious since the sanitation/water treatment increased cost of $380 is still going to be passed on to everyone in the SCV.

They needlessly relinquished their water softeners. Living in a townhome with a $300 HOA monthly fee, I see an increase will be in my future once this increase from $14.92 per home to $47 per home takes effect.
