Holiday Home Tour League hosts fashion show, seeks volunteers

The Henry Mayo Holiday Home Tour League is seeking volunteers for its December 2008 event, a tour of three Santa Clarita Valley homes bedecked in the season's finest decor, as well as a sneak preview gala and boutique.

This year marks the 28th annual Holiday Home Tour, which has raised an annual average of $40,000 for women's services at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

"This is a nice organization to join for someone who wants to help their community hospital," said Holiday Home Tour League Co-president Julia Hicken. "You can participate without having to give up too much of your time, yet it's really fun for those who like the holidays and fundraising."

To launch their volunteer recruitment efforts, the Holiday Home Tour League is holding a fashion show and luncheon at Newhall's Hart Park (in Hart Hall) on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

The event, sponsored by the Bank of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, will feature fashions from Vintage Wrapsody Productions of Goodwill Southern California and is being chaired by Becki Basham, vice-president and membership chair of the Home Tour League.

With the theme of "A History of Fashion," the afternoon includes men's and women's clothing from the 1880s through 1990s, as well as a catered lunch.

"There are many reasons why people enjoy being a part of the Home Tour League. There is the social aspect of it, or if you like planning, an opportunity to be on the board and take a leadership role," said Tour League Co-president June Poulin. "However, I would say that the ability to touch other lives and maybe even save a life by means of providing funds is the ultimate payoff."

Fashion show admission is $25 per person. For more information contact the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation at (661) 253-8082 or visit www.henrymayo.com.
