Spending protests

Regarding Bruce McFarland's opinion column "America: Love it or leave it" (The Signal, April 21): My husband and I were among the "tea-baggers."

We had other things we could have been doing, but felt compelled to express our frustration with the wild spending that has been going on like there was no tomorrow (literally).

Here's just one example of why we were there: the 2.6 million of our tax dollars allocated to train Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly on the job.

Not a joke - soberingly true.

Maybe McFarland has plenty of money to throw away, but it's a real struggle for us to make our required tax deposits.

We do without so Chinese prostitutes can have counseling, or so that President Obama can have his plane photographed over the Statue of Liberty at a cost of more than $330,000.

As these things come to light, I predict there will be many more protesters at the next tea party.
