Canyon Theatre Guild: "Over the River and Through the Woods"
Canyon Theatre Guild presents Over the River and Through the Woods (see review in this issue) through April 19, and A Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas through April 20. Central Park, Fillmore: Railfest in Fillmore
The Santa Clara River Valley Railroad Historical Society, in conjunction with the Fillmore & Western Railway Co., will present the 13th annual Railfest event on March 29 and March 30. The center of activities will be at Central Park in Fillmore, but other activities will be held in Piru and Santa Paula. There will be railroad-related venues, informational displays, arts and crafts booths, model trains and food vendors.

Admission to events and parking are free. Fillmore & Western will offer a $25 adult one-day or $35 adult two-day rail pass for travel from Fillmore to Santa Paula and Piru. Railfest is centered in Fillmore on Central Avenue and Main Street, 19 miles west of Interstate 5 on Highway 126. For information visit www.scrvrhs.com or www.fwry.com.

College of the Canyons Drum Circles
The Remo Recreational Music Making Activities Department is offering free community drum circles in Valencia, hosted by College of the Canyons, on the first and third Saturdays of each month. No experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome. Drums will be provided by Remo Inc. but community members may bring their own drum, tambourine or other percussion instruments.

The drum circles will take place at COC in room STUC-13 from 4:30-6 p.m. For more information contact John Fitzgerald at jfitzgerald@remo.com or call 294-5631.

Gibbon Conservation Center: Breakfast with the Gibbons
Have breakfast with the gibbons at the Gibbon Conservation Center, located at 19100 Esguerra Road in Santa Clarita, on Saturday April 12, 8:30 a.m.-noon. View this endangered species of apes up close and hear their sounds.

The special fundraising event includes a guided tour of the largest group of gibbons (small apes) in the Western Hemisphere (some with infants), a light vegan breakfast, a talk and question/answer session with founder Alan Mootnick, and a silent auction.

Valencia Bowling Lanes: Bowl-a-Thon
Join the Domestic Violence Center of SCV in a day of fun and games on Sunday April 13 at 1 p.m. at Valencia Lanes, 23700 Lyons Ave., Newhall. Player registration Includes: two games of "Crazy 8" bowling, rental bowling shoes, ticket for the grand prize drawing. For more information call 259-8175.

Hart Park, Newhall: Fashion Show and Luncheon
Take a trip down memory lane during Henry Mayo Holiday Home Tour League's annual membership fashion show and luncheon at Newhall's Hart Park on April 15. This event will take place at Hart Hall, located aat 24151 San Fernando Road. $25 per person. The Home Tour League is seeking volunteers for its December 2008 holiday event. Regent's Park Circle Relay For Life
The second annual wine tasting benefiting the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life will take place on Saturday April 19 from 2-6 p.m. at 24071 Regents Park Circle, Valencia Summit (Arroyo Park/McBean Parkway). Donation: $25 per person, payable to the American Cancer Society.

Wines will be provided and poured by Gallo, All corked Up, and Leona Valley Winery. There will be a gift basket silent auction, raffles and refreshments. Luminaria bags will also be available for $10. For more information on this event call (818) 554-9557 (days) or 255-1392 (evenings).

Heritage Junction Chuckwagon Dinner Show
This year's Cowboy Poetry Festival kicks off with a trip back in time at the third annual Chuckwagon Dinner Show, a fundraiser for the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society at Heritage Junction on Thursday, April 24.

Castaic: Castaic Days
The first ever Castaic Days will be a weekend festival of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, including live music performances, an evening movie on the lake, an in-water boat show, kids fishing, wake board demonstration, kayaking on the lake and a 10m/5k/1k run.

Castaic Days will feature local restaurants and business as well as an arts and crafts fair. This event will be held Friday May 2 through Sunday May 4. It is free to the public. For more information visit www.CastaicDays.com.

Thousand Trails Preserve: Civil War Days
Thousand Trails Preserve and the American Civil War Society present their annual Civil War Days at Thousand Trails preserve, 4700 Crow Valley Rd. in Acton on Saturday and Sunday June 7 and 8. Camps are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. A period dance and gambling hall are scheduled at 7 a.m. on Saturday. The cost is $5 per person. Paseo Club: Monopoly Mania
The SCV School & Business Alliance will host its fourth installment of Monopoly Mania on Saturday May 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Paseo Club in Valencia. Participants in the annual game-fest, the Alliance's signature fundraiser, spend a lively evening buying, selling and monopolizing properties while sending fellow players "to jail." Tickets are $75 per person and include game participation and dinner. Must be 18 and older. For more information call 259-0033, ext. 230.

California Institute of the Arts: Wine Classic
The 20th annual Wine Classic will be held on May 31. The event is taking place in the Main Gallery at California Institute of the Arts from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will feature a wide variety of vintage and current wines for tasting and purchase, as well as gourmet cuisine from some of the Santa Clarita Valley's finest restaurants and caterers. Discounts will be given to those who purchase tickets early. $65 each/$120 a pair through March 28, $70 each/$130 a pair from March 29 to March 30, $80 each/$150 a pair at the door.

Special Olympics Polar Plunge
On May 3 the Special Olympics Santa Clarita Valley will hold its third annual Polar Plunge event at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. Jump into the Wave Pool to raise money, win rewards and have a good time. Everyone that raises $100 or more will receive free admission to Hurricane Harbor for the entire day and a Polar Plunge T-shirt. Space is limited. Hyatt Valencia: SCV Man and Woman of the Year
