A sense of propriety, or maybe not

To The Editor:

I was initially not amused by Pat Bagley's cartoon this morning (April 9, 2008) representing Charlton Heston as a gun-waving nut outside the gates of heaven. However, after ruminating on this for a bit I thought, well, actually, his NRA participation was presented by the media as defining the man in his later life.

What really made me laugh, though, was the thought of seeing a similar send-off for Cecile Richards or Elena Maslia Marks upon their demise.

As the national leaders for Planned Parenthood, perhaps Pat would be kind enough to draw them standing at the gates of hell waving the limbs of some fetuses?

Ask yourself, why is what I envisage inappropriate, and what Pat envisaged acceptable?

Pat's cartoon might have been funny, but it was a cheap shot at a man with a great deal of character, even if it was not meant as such.
