Now, just add a jug of wine and thou (and maybe a few other picnic goodies) and you've got an outdoor meal.

A loaf of bread, a jug of wine and thou... sounds nice but I'd like some potato salad and maybe a sandwich or fried chicken to go with that sentimental thought.

Memorial Day weekend is not only the perfect time to roll out the barbecue but it is also a great time to gather up the family, a picnic basket and head outdoors to enjoy some fun in the sun, and a few good eats, too.

To assist you in your search for the perfect picnic Bristol Farms, 23975 Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia, offers the following picnic solutions, neatly packed in a picnic box for your dining pleasure:

The Symphony is a delicious appetizer box filled with paté, specialty cheeses, crackers, mixed nuts and cornichons. $19.99.

The Pops Medley includes a sandwich with your choice of rare roast beef, black forest ham, smoked turkey, or fresh veggie. Served with berry salad, spinach pasta salad and a Bristol brownie. $13.99.

The Classic is a Caesar salad with tender grilled chicken, Parmesan cheese, lemon, croutons and Caesar dressing. Served with a fresh seeded demi baguette and a Bristol brownie. $13.99.

Or enjoy a picnic meal. All picnic meals below come with fresh berry salad, pasta salad, roll with butter and a Bristol brownie.

Summer Jazz offers boneless and skinless chicken breast marinated in fresh rosemary and lemon and grilled to perfection. $17.99.
The Concerto is poached salmon with creamy dill sauce. $21.99. The Maestro offers rare roasted herbed filet mignon. $25.99.

The Broadway Score is Italian stuffed chicken breast filled with spinach, ricotta and Italian spices. $21.99.

Or wander the store and create your own picnic basket with deli meats, cheeses and other goodies.

If you want other picnic options try picking up a bucket of fried or grilled chicken from one of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in the SCV (23327 Lyons Ave., Newhall or 19307 Soledad Canyon Road, Canyon Country) or El Pollo Loco (26930 Sierra Highway, Canyon Country or 24365 Magic Mountain Parkway, Valencia).

For those wanting an organic picnic experience Whole Foods, 24130 Valencia Blvd., Valencia offers up a wide variety of tasty picnic fare including gluten-free items. Stop for a sandwich or try the olive bar, as well as the cheese and deli counters.
