Circus Vargas has a long history of philanthropic contribution. Since its inception in 1969, Circus Vargas has partnered with numerous charities and organizations both locally and nationally (Pediatric AIDS, AIDS Foundation, Make-A-Wish, Kids Cancer Connection, Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Club, just to name a few).

"We are always pleased to be able to give back to the community," states Joan Hart, Marketing & Public Relations Director for Circus Vargas. "If we can help raise awareness to a worthy cause, through our performance, through our art...well then, we are doubly fortunate."

Thousands of patrons attend Circus Vargas each year under the Big Top, yet there are still hundreds more that are unable to make the trek to one of Circus Vargas' venues.

"We are a traveling circus," smiles owner Katya Quiroga, "and so, when it would benefit an organization to bring Circus Vargas to them, we do so!"

Well, not the entire circus - rather a preview show featuring the same spectacular acts that appear under the Big Top, but that are easily transported and don't require special rigging, i.e., jugglers, acrobats, and clowns.

"It's amazing, the feeling you get when you're able to bring the magic of the circus to an audience that might never have been able to see it otherwise," exclaims Katya.

And Thursday, May 28, at noon, they will be doing just that when they present a very special Circus Vargas 20-minute preview show at the Santa Clarita Senior Center.

Circus Vargas is so excited to perform for the Senior Center. This is a great experience all the way around! It's gratifying and rewarding for the performers, and it's exciting and entertaining for the audience. We think everyone should be able to experience the magic of Circus Vargas, and we are very proud to be able to make that happen.

Circus Vargas 2009 will appear in Santa Clarita at the Westfield Valencia Town Center, Thursday, May 28 through Sunday, June 7.
