Work Starts on Auditorium Interiors
Construction crews are once again at work on the campuses at West Ranch and Golden Valley high schools, but for students and staff, it's good news because it heralds the start of interior construction on the schools' performing arts centers.

Scaffolding went up earlier this month in order to start work on the ceilings. Additional work will include seats, stage completion and state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems.

The two auditoriums were built as shells when the new schools were originally constructed in order to meet stringent state hardship funding restrictions. Interior modifications are expected to be completed in September-October and the centers will be available for use this fall.

Business Partners Cited for Support
Local companies and business leaders were saluted for their many contributions to the education of local students at the recent Business Partners recognition dinner hosted by the Student Communications Council in the library at West Ranch High School.

Top Business Super Star awards went to Gary Saenger from Saenger Associates for his work in providing graduating seniors at Valencia High School with mentoring and internship programs.

DJ Jahng from SoCal Physical Therapy also received a Super Star award for his work with Valencia's sports medicine program.

Outstanding Business Partner awards were presented to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Mark Schutz with McDonald's, No Limit America and architect Joe Ramirez. Lifetime Achievement awards for ongoing service to local schools went to Cary Quashen and Stephanie Weiss, ACTION Parent and Teen Support Group; Mike O'Connor, O'Connor Photography; and Dan Williams, Destiny Youth Foundation. New Lifetime Achievement awards went to Jean Sutton, SC Free Classified; James Davidson, New England Financial; and Mike Mazzetti, Mike Mazzetti Productions.
