Two people were arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of cultivating marijuana in their Canyon Country home, a sheriff's spokesman said.

Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's deputies assisted the California Franchise Tax Board in executing a search warrant unrelated to the marijuana bust in the 17000 block of Crest Heights Drive, Lt. Mark Hershey said.

When deputies searched two bedrooms in the home, they found 80 marijuana plants, he said.

Karen Gasparian and Beau Smith, both 28, were arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, a felony, Hershey said.

Neither court date nor bail amount for Gasparian and Smith has been set.
