Three assistant principals will be appointed Wednesday during the William S. Hart Union High School District's governing board meeting.

A junior high school assistant principal will be appointed at Placerita Junior High School as a result of Assistant Principal Sharon Rathbun's retirement in February.

The board will decide on an assistant principal at Hart High School to fill a spot vacated by Assistant Principal Mark Crawford, who was recently selected to serve as principal of Sierra Vista Junior High School.

A permanent assistant principal will also be appointed at Saugus High School.

Sharon Rathbun, 60, retired in February after nearly 40 years at the Hart district.

Rathbun originally started at Sierra Vista Junior High School in 1969, where she taught for seven years.

She spent 11 years a teacher at Arroyo Seco Junior High School before moving on to Placerita to serve as a counselor for five years.

She most recently spent 15 years as assistant principal for Placerita.

"The most pure fun I had was teaching dance at Arroyo Seco," she said. "It was a really positive experience with the kids. They were happy to be there."

Rathbun enjoyed working with junior-high students throughout the decades.

"The energy at junior high is just fantastic," she said.

As for retirement, Rathbun plans to travel and spend time with her daughter.
