Regarding Bruce McFarland's Opinion column "America: Love it or leave it" (The Signal, April 21):

If McFarland would open his eyes, he might have seen that those at the Tea Party represented a broad cross-section of Santa Clarita residents.

The theme was that we are not getting good value from our current tax dollars, yet we are being asked to pay more.

I happened to be among a group of very vocal young people who were protesting the fact that they will be burdened with the debt of uncontrolled spending.

They recognized that when the government spends more than it takes in the consequences are inflation, debt and higher taxes.

They were mad at irresponsible debtors who are now asking the government to bail them out.

These were not spoiled, well-fed youth as alleged by Mr. McFarland.

They were well educated in economics, unlike typical partisan Democrats and RINOs.

They were Libertarians, Bluedog Democrats, Reagan Republicans and just people who felt they are taxed too much already.

Spoiled? Not one of them. Angry? All of them.
