Leave city seal alone

An elected representative of the people, Santa Clarita City Councilman Bob Kellar, wants to attach an out-of-date, politically incorrect, bigoted slogan to our city logo that is not representative of all the people.

As American books are so keen these days to attach subtitles, can we presume "Also in Allah, Jehovah, Yahweh, Zeus and thousands of Hindu gods We Trust" as well as "In the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Pixies and Unicorns We Trust" and so on will also be included?

America was not founded with God in the constitution. It was added later. Mr. Kellar is very much mistaken. The founding fathers were (at least more than likely) atheists. He sounds like the Taliban!

Does Mr. Kellar not wish to embrace the cultural diversity of Santa Clarita? Is this akin to religious cleansing? Move out of this town if you're a heathen? What's next, compulsory church and death to anyone who works on Sunday?

America and this city were made by human spirit alone and whose effort is ridiculously dedicated to one of many thousands of gods, many of whom are forgotten.

What's to trust in God anyway? The giver of war, religious cleansing and child mortality, the non-punisher of corrupt politicians, child-molesting priests and wrong-doers throughout the land - can He not turn them to pillars of salt or give them the plague, or at least a mild coronary?

Keep religion to those who think they need it, and out of sight in churches. Keep it out of schools and away from money, city, state and national identity.

And with what the previous administration has done to this country, let's not make this town a target of other fundamentalists who think we all believe in the "wrong" God.
