Santa Clarita Central Park is bigger and better than ever after the completion of Phase III of the Park’s Master Plan. Today, the Santa Clarita City Council and Castaic Lake Water Agency’s Board of Directors hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the project.

Phase III of the Central Park Master Plan included development of:

two new, full-size, lighted, multi-use sports fields;170 new parking spaces;an enhanced walking/running path;a new basketball court and full resurfacing of existing courts;installation of irrigation and shade structures;and a plaza joining the fitness area and basketball courts.

“Central Park just keeps getting better,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste. “The park has always been one of our City’s most distinctive spaces, and now there are even more reasons to enjoy a morning, afternoon, or evening at Central Park.”

In Fiscal Year 2014-2015, the City of Santa Clarita will begin working on the design of the tennis complex at Central Park, which is considered the fourth and final phase of the park expansion.

The fencing surrounding the perimeter of the fields will be removed on Saturday, August 30, 2014.
