SACRAMENTO – Yesterday afternoon Governor Brown signed two bills by Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R- Santa Clarita:

Assembly Bill 1680 requires Child Protective Services Permit holders to post their permit number on all advertisements, including online advertisements, for an additional layer of security for children in the entertainment industry.

Assembly Bill 1906 allows California Community Colleges to recoup maintenance costs from organizations that use their campus facilities by expanding the definition of “direct costs” to include a proportional share of the cost of maintaining, repairing, or renovating facilities.

“These are important victories for families and community colleges. AB 1680 will take a further step to protect our children in the entertainment industry and AB 1906 will keep more money in community college classrooms while still maintaining facilities,” Wilk said.

Both laws will go into effect on January 1, 2015.

The 38th Assembly District encompasses Simi Valley, the northwestern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
