This skipper butterfly shares characteristics of both moths and butterflies, with a body, wings and antennae more like the former.

There are over 3,000 species of skipper butterflies worldwide with approximately 275 species common in North America.

They tend to like dry, hot climates and will migrate to warmer climates in winter.
