Progress continues on the project to widen the McBean Parkway Bridge in Santa Clarita near the Valencia Post Office, officials said Wednesday.

Hoon Hahn, a senior engineer with the city of Santa Clarita, said the next phase of work entails constructing a landscaped median and doing overlay work on McBean Parkway.

While the timeline for completing the project is being finalized, Hahn estimated this phase of work could take around eight weeks to complete.

The overall project entailed expansion of the McBean Parkway Bridge that runs between Avenue Scott and Creekside Road in Valencia, by adding one southbound lane.

“The road’s been widened out, so the majority of the infrastructure work associated with the McBean Bridge has been completed,” he said.

Before work began, the road in the area was seven lanes, with three going southbound and four going northbound.

Another portion of the project involves building links between existing sections of nearby trails, according to Hahn.
“Our city takes a lot of pride in our trail system, and this will make a lot of connections in that area,” he said.
