Good afternoon Saugus.  The following Part 1 crimes were reported in Saugus over the past week:

There was an assault with a deadly weapon reported in the 18700 block of Plum Canyon Road on August 14th.  The victim was assaulted when he confronted the suspect over recent vandalisms in the area.  Deputies are searching for the suspect.

A commercial burglary was reported at a local shopping center located in the 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on August 16th.  The suspect was arrested after purchasing items using stolen credit cards.

A vehicle was reported stolen in the 24000 block of Copper Hill Drive on August 15th.  The vehicle was located a short time later a close distance away.  Deputies are following up on leads to the incident.

There was a vehicle burglary reported in the 28500 block of Santa Caterina on August 14th.  Miscellaneous electrical items were stolen from the victim’s vehicle overnight.  Detectives are searching for the items and suspect.

We had a theft from unlocked vehicle reported in the 19400 block of Sassoon Place on August 14th.  Multiple tools were stolen out of the victim’s vehicle overnight.

On a good note:  There has been an increase in drug related arrests over the past year.  A good portion of our property crimes can be attributed to drug users who are looking to make a quick buck by breaking into unlocked vehicles.  With the increase of drug related arrests we are also seeing a decrease in thefts from unlocked vehicles and other petty thefts over the valley.

If you have any information regarding the above mentioned crimes please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
