Social Security cuts hurt

Perhaps I missed a few issues of The Signal.

However, I was so unprepared for the letter I received in yesterday’s mail from Social Security in regards to lowering my SSI checks by $35. It may not seem like to much to most, but I have cut most of my prescription costs by taking them every other day.

As explained, I never heard that this cost would be part of the government’s plan. Let’s start with low-income people. It always works — just like the homeless.

Up until two years ago, no one considered California was in a funding emergency. We were one of the richest states. We voted yes on the Indian casinos which was more revenue to us. Children’s programs? No, they were also cut.

Let’s get to where it started: the border.

This can’t work because you can’t lower people’s money to try to spread it around as was told to my friend who had to pay $600 for summer camp for her son. Last year she paid 40 percent, and now it is 85 percent.

They told her this way everyone gets a chance to go to camp. Well, if you can’t afford any amount of camp costs, what does it matter?

So now we can have the kiddies unattended because moms need to work. I see no logical value but I do see a lot of obvious misappropriation of funds.
