One of two people arrested in June on suspicion they were driving recklessly in a show of speed on Bouquet Canyon Road pleaded not guilty to the charge in court Wednesday, a spokesman for he Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Armen Laloyan, 37, of Hesperia entered a plea of not guilty to speed exhibition in Newhall Municipal Court, spokesman Ricardo Santiago said.

“He’s due back (in court) for a pre-trial hearing on Aug. 27,” Santiago said.

Laloyan and a juvenile whose identity was not disclosed were arrested June 1 in a joint forces crackdown on reckless driving in the vicinity of Big Oaks Lodge on Bouquet Canyon Road. Their vehicles were impounded for 30 days.

Both were identified as members of an illegal racing club, called the Realrunners Club, according to California Highway Patrol officers.

A three-month investigation into Realrunners activities resulted in the identification of several club members, as well as an abundance of illegal driving actions associated with club events, CHP Officer John Lutz said in June.
