FBI plans to question suspect in connection with Bombshell Bandit cases

The woman suspected of being the Bombshell Bandit has been identified as 24-year-old Sandeep Kaur of Union City, California, a neighborhood outside of San Francisco, law enforcement officials said Tuesday.

On Monday, FBI agents in Utah issued an arrest warrant for Kaur alleging she robbed a branch of the U.S. Bank in St. George, Utah, on Thursday.

Although Kaur was named in the arrest warrant issued in relation to the Utah bank robbery, she has not been charged with any of the three bank robberies believed committed by the Bombshell Bandit, including the robbery in Valencia in June.

In the Utah case, a woman with a small frame wearing a navy-blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over the her head, wearing black sunglasses and a surgical mask over her face, entered the Utah bank on South Bluff Street on Thursday.

“Without ever saying a word, the subject slid a note-card over to Victim 1,” the warrant reads. “The note-card demanded that Victim 1 provide the subject with a large sum of money within two minutes or the subject would shoot Victim 1. Victim 1 provided a sum of U.S. currency to the subject who then fled the bank.”

St. George City Police officers pursued a suspect seen getting into a dark colored Nissan sedan, according to the warrant, and followed the suspect through a corner of Arizona and then into Nevada, pulling her over near Mesquite, the documents states.

For two hours negotiators with the Mesquite Police Department talked with the suspect to get out of the car, Sgt. McQuade Chesley of the Mesquite Police Department said Tuesday.

“She became a barricaded suspect for two hours,” he said. “We had a negotiator who got her to exit the car. It was about 110 degrees that day.”

At 6:10 p.m. Mesquite police arrested the woman, and she was transported to Las Vegas “where they process all the felonies,” Chesley said.

Kaur remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, charged with aggressive driving.

FBI agents plan to interview the woman in connection with the three other bank robberies, in which the robber threatened to detonate a bomb. But whether or not Kaur is the Bombshell Bandit remains to be seen.
