A man armed with a can of Mace and dressed in what a sheriff's deputy described as business casual attire attempted to attack a senior citizen in a Saugus parking lot Monday.

The attempted attack happened just before noon in the 26700 block of Bouquet Canyon Road, said Sgt. Ron Price of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. A white male dressed in white button-up shirt, a ski mask and dark pants followed a senior citizen as she walked to her car, he said.

The victim told deputies that the suspect approached her with what appeared to be a can of Mace in his hand, Price said. The victim quickly got in her car and slammed the door behind her. She began honking the horn to draw attention to the area and the suspect, Price said. The suspect fled, he said.

The victim suffered no injuries in the attack, Price said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Station at (661) 255-1121.
