As part of The Signal’s 2014 Santa Clarita Valley Football Preview, we want you to pick the Greatest SCV Football Player of All Time.

We are giving you 19 players to choose from, but you can also give us write-in votes.

Consider only their SCV football careers, which means what they did while playing at their high school.

The SCV is known as one of the most successful areas for football in California.

Now let’s give it a representative player who we can define as its greatest.

A group of experts will also choose who it considers the Greatest SCV Football Player of All Time.

That group is made up of sportswriters — one local, one who represents Southern California and one who represents the state — so you’re also getting a Greatest Player from a completely unbiased perspective.

They will select based on a point system that looks at the players’ value, dominance, body of work, lasting impact and how highly recruited they were from colleges.

The list of 19 was put together after consulting some of Santa Clarita’s most highly respected football people — including Hart High head football coach Mike Herrington and former Canyon High head coach Harry Welch.

Voting will be conducted online at signalscv.com/greatest

“The Greatest” will be unveiled in The Signal’s 2014 Santa Clarita Valley Football Preview, which will be delivered to homes and hit newsstands Aug. 29.
