Two convicted bandits who robbed Santa Clarita Valley residents at knife-point for their cellphones and wallets last fall have been sentenced to prison, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said Thursday.

Abraham James Bautista, 20, and Joshua Lamar Right, 21, both of Palmdale, appeared in San Fernando Superior Court on July 18, and each entered a plea of no contest to felony robbery, said spokesman Ricardo Santiago.

Bautista, who worked as a seat installer, was sentenced to three years in prison. Right, a construction worker, was sentenced to five years, Santiago said.

Each man is scheduled to appear back in court for a restitution hearing — Bautista on Sept. 3 and Right on Aug. 27.

The two went on a crime spree on Oct. 15, robbing a person at knife-point in the 27000 block of Avenue Hopkins in Valencia and later a woman in front of her home in the 24000 block of La Golita Circle in Newhall. They then tried to rob two men at the same location in Newhall.

“The victims were able to give a description of the suspects and of the vehicle the suspects fled in,” investigators said in a news release issued in October.

A week later, deputies from both the Santa Clarita Valley and Palmdale sheriff’s stations arrested Bautista and Right.

Both men were ordered to stand trial for robbery on March 6.
