The “Bombshell Bandit” wanted for robbing a Valencia bank with the threat of a bomb early last month is now suspected in a third bank robbery, this time in San Diego, FBI officials said.

On July 14, a woman matching the description of the one who robbed the Bank of the West branch on Magic Mountain Parkway last month held up a bank in Point Loma, in San Diego, where she also threatened to detonate a bomb, according to Darrell Foxworth, spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation field office in San Diego.

The same woman is also suspected in robbing a bank in Arizona under similar circumstances.

In each case the woman has escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

Although the FBI has released video surveillance images in each robbery, no one has been arrested or identified as a suspect, Foxworth said.

Asked Wednesday if the FBI has received tips from published images of the Bombshell Bandit, Foxworth said: “Not that I’m aware of.”

FBI agents are working with local law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles, Calif., and Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and seeking the public’s assistance to identify the Bombshell Bandit, Foxworth wrote in his account of the crimes posted on the FBI’s website.

“The Bombshell Bandit derives her name based on bomb threats she has made during her robberies,” Foxworth wrote.

“During her robberies, the Bombshell Bandit passes a demand note to the victim teller demanding cash,” he said. “The note threatens that she possesses a bomb and will detonate the bomb if she does not receive money. No injuries have been reported during any of the robberies.”

Witnesses describe the Bombshell Bandit as between 20 and 25 years old, approximately 5 feet, 3 inches tall, and 120 to 140 pounds. Her natural hair color is believed to be black, but she possibly wears a wig that is auburn or brown in color.

She has also been seen wearing a long, multi-colored scarf covering her head and neck, dark sunglasses with large lenses, a dark long-sleeved sweater and long black skirt. The Bombshell Bandit has also worn a long-sleeve jacket with front zipper and flip-flop shoes.

Anyone with information concerning this robbery series is asked to contact the San Diego FBI at telephone number 858-320-1800, Los Angeles FBI at telephone number 310-477-6565, or San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-540-8477.
