A 22-year-old Canyon Country man out on bail after being charged with burglary and assault with a deadly weapon last month was arrested Tuesday for burglary and attempted burglary, a sheriff’s official said.

Brandon Michael Spencer was arrested Tuesday after a homeowner in the Fair Oaks Ranch neighborhood reported a break-in, said Deputy Josh Dubin.

Spencer had been arrested June 26 in connection with a burglary at a store that sells Airsoft guns and on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly shooting a man with such a gun earlier the same night, Dubin said.

Four days after his arrest, Spencer was released from custody after posting bail.

On Tuesday shortly after 6:45 a.m., deputies responded to a call from a homeowner on Cardinal Drive in Fair Oaks Ranch that someone had broken into his home, Dubin said.

“The rear sliding door was broken and the suspect was allegedly in the home,” he said. “Then the same suspect tried to enter another house down the street.”

After the alleged break-in attempt at the second house, the suspect was spotted by residents in the backyards of two other homes in the area of Swan Lane, Dubin said.

“We had multiple deputies responding,” he said Tuesday. “We’re still trying to figure it all out.”

Spencer was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, Dubin said, where he was treated for “medical issues.”

“Deputies claim that he appeared to be severely under the influence of narcotics,” he said.

In the early hours of June 26, deputies responded to a burglar alarm at the Airsoft & Hobby World store on Bouquet Canyon Road near Newhall Ranch Road in Saugus, finding the front door glass smashed in.

Shortly afterward they spotted a white Ford Explorer wanted in connection with an assault reported earlier and stopped the vehicle, finding at least 15 Airsoft items believed stolen from the store.

Spencer was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing the store and shooting a man with an Airsoft gun earlier that night.

Airsoft guns are replica firearms that fire plastic pellets.
