Regarding Lynn Vakay's opinion column "Tea parties and prayer are American tradition" (The Signal, April 17): I was impressed by the simplicity and simple facts that make me feel I am part of the problem.

I gripe about the government and all the things it does to cause me fear, for my family and future generations.

Yelling and carrying signs of protest only anger those who don't understand. This article brought a reality to me that comes from that most read book.

In the Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14 reads, "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land."

A quiet time alone or with a couple of friends may just be enough to turn around some of this mess we are in. We need to spend more time on our knees earnestly turning the problems over to the Lord and let Him fix them.

Thanks for your insight, Lynn. I am thinking a lot more positively. It worked for our forefathers; it can work for us.
