Volunteers dressing as characters from the 1800s Wild West added a sense of semblance to last year's Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival. This year's festival is scheduled for April 23-25 at Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio.

The 2008 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival is set to run April 23-27 in Santa Clarita for its 15th year in a row.
Formerly the Santa Clarita Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival, the festival offers the same high quality of food, music, poetry and cowboy gear as it has in years past.

The festival is again hosted by the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio, once owned by Western film star Gene Autry and formerly home to the HBO series "Deadwood."

Students from the ages of 11 to 14 can now sign up to work at the Cowboy Festival on April 26 and 27.

The city is seeking volunteers for the festival's Gold Rush Food Court. Applicants must fill out a volunteer form and return it by April 16. Forms can be picked up from the Community Services Office, located at City Hall. 23920 Valencia Blvd., Suite 110.

The city is hosting a mandatory round-up event on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for all volunteers in the City Council Chambers of City Hall. For more information, contact Community Services Coordinator Araz Valijan at (661) 284-1401 or
