Incomplete reporting

Regarding the "Tossed paper causes incident at Canyon High" story published April 1: This "incident" allegedly happened in front of other students (witnesses) whose statements should have been taken at some point for the "crime" report.

If the initial report didn't contain that information, The Signal reporter should have pursued witness statements through the school, the teacher, or the student who reported the incident as a routine course of action, getting the whole story.

This would have given the reporter the opportunity to use statements like, "witness accounts did/did not support the claims" or "witness accounts varied." This would have at least given the appearance of doing a complete job of reporting and possibly saved some folks, including The Signal editorial staff, unnecessary embarrassment.
