An open letter to motorists of the Santa Clarita Valley

Speeding, cellphone calling, texting, tail-gating arrogance, complete disregard for the other motorist and other numerous unsafe practices while driving that cause accidents — these have been my contention in many letters to the editor that I have submitted to The Signal.

This letter to the editor is an open letter to all the cynics out there who have ridiculed this speeding, cellphone-calling and texting epidemic that has been prevalent in Santa Clarita.

The people of Santa Clarita have ignored these situations for a very long time, and some of the posters who post their comments in the SCV Signal letter to the editor section have been relentless in ridiculing the other posters who have been concerned for the safety factor in Santa Clarita.

The main complaint from these cynical posters is that there are too many traffic signals, and their other petty complaint is that these traffic signals are not synchronized so they can speed to their destinations faster.

The motorists of Santa Clarita should be grateful that there are many traffic signals, no more or no less in other cities, which should keep the traffic speed under control. That seems to be a difficult goal to achieve.

Speedsters, stop and smell the roses. You live in a lovely city that has a lot to offer in living a good and safe life.

Don’t jeopardize these amenities by speeding and being careless in the way you drive.

Better to be safe than sorry.
