Trevor Bauer’s almost unbelievable ascension continues.

The Hart High graduate, who earned enough credits to leave the school early and enroll at UCLA in January, has pitched his way to Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors.

“Definitely a great honor,” Bauer said. “In a sense I don’t deserve it. It doesn’t seem like I’m worthy.”

Bauer pitched a one-hit shutout April 18 in a 13-0 victory for his UCLA Bruins over Washington.

The freshman right-hander struck out nine batters, allowing two walks.

He no-hit the Huskies through five innings.

Bauer was also named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week.

Bauer is leading the Bruins with a 6-3 record and 2.64 ERA in 15 appearances.

He was 12-0 with a 0.79 ERA with 106 strikeouts in 70 2/3 innings last season with the Indians, earning The Signal’s All-Santa Clarita Valley Baseball Player of the year award and an All-CIF-Southern Section Division I nod.

Bauer said the last year has gone so fast for him.

“It’s kind of been like a whirlwind,” Bauer said. “This time last year I hadn’t even committed anywhere. One year later, so much has changed. It’s unbelievable.”
