Two people were injured and taken to the hospital Wednesday following a two-car crash on San Francisquito Canyon Road, according to inspectors with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to a collision with reports of people trapped shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, said Fire Department Inspector Michael Pittman.

“The collision happened on the 29000 block of San Francisquito Canyon Road” about 2 1/2 miles north of Copper Hill Drive in the canyon, Pittman said.

Firefighters found two vehicles in the middle of the roadway. They used hydraulic sheers to cut away crumpled metal from each car and free a single occupant from each. The vehicles were a gray Mitsubishi Gallant and a blue Toyota sedan.

Fire Department officials did not disclose the gender, age or identity of either person involved in the crash.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol were investigating the collision.
