The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is expected to vote Tuesday on an upgraded fire station for Castaic.

The board will hear a recommendation from the county Chief Executive Office for construction of proposed Fire Station 143 in the 28600 block of Hasley Canyon Road in Castaic.

But the station would not be an additional one for the Santa Clarita Valley. Rather, it would replace Fire Station 76 in Castaic, located on Henry Mayo Drive near Newhall Ranch Road.

A recommendation from the CEO’s office proposes the board approve a $6.2 million contract with Novus Construction for the new structure. The revised total project budget is $10.4 million.

Station 143 would be the second Los Angeles County Fire Station in Castaic. Station 149 is located at 31770 Ridge Route Road.

The CEO’s recommendation calls for the new station to have 9,700 square feet of space, including a two-bay apparatus room, main office, day room, kitchen, exercise room and dormitory quarters for seven.

The county purchased the land on Hasley Canyon Road for $338,000, board papers indicate.
