While the REP's "Main Stage" series offers the kind of theatre you'd expect to see on Broadway, featuring well known productions geared toward a wider audience, the "81 Series" features limited engagement performances of a more provocative nature by well known and respected playwrights.
As such, "Eve-olution" tackles the good, the bad and the utterly unpredictable of the toughest profession in the world, motherhood. It is the tale of Alison and Liza, two young mothers juggling kids, career and marriage, all while trying to maintain the elusive sense of self. It's a story that could only be written from the real life experiences of real mothers (the playwrights).
"It is very exciting to have the ‘81 Series' back and open with such a powerful piece of women's theatre. The strength these women have shown, on every level, is truly remarkable and inspiring," said Ovington Michael Owston, the REP's artistic director. "This is a very touching piece of theatre and sheds a wonderful and compelling light on the challenges of being a mother, a professional and a woman in today's society."
The REP will host post-show discussions immediately following each Sunday matinee. Join the cast and crew for an intimate look into the process of creating live theatre.
"Eve-olution" stars REP newcomers Kelly Hawthorne and Andrea Shreeman. Also new to the REP is Director Mark Kaplan.
