Gas prices in the Santa Clarita Valley have remained steady over the past week as the average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded sits at $3.64, according to a weekly gas survey.
The lowest price for a gallon of unleaded is $3.53 and is sold at the Arco station, located at Sierra Highway and Friendly Valley Parkway, according to a survey of gas station prices conducted by Randy Cressall, owner of Valencia Auto Spa.
Seven stations tied for the most expensive gas, which the survey puts at $3.69. The stations were:
* Mobil on Bouquet Canyon Road and Urbandale Avenue
* Mobil on McBean Parkway and Decoro Drive
* Union 76 on Lyons Avenue and Newhall Avenue
* Union 76 and Chevron, both at Bouquet Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road.
* Chevron on Newhall Ranch Road and Bouquet Canyon Road
* Chevron on Rye Canyon Road, near Interstate 5.
Although speculation continues over whether gas will hit the $4 mark as a result of oil continuing to close over $100 a barrel, local stations have yet to charge $4 for even premium grade gasoline.
According to the survey, the Shell and Mobil station, both on Lyons Avenue near Interstate 5, are selling a gallon of premium for $3.97.
