Four teenage girls were hurt – one with serious head injuries – when the driver of a Honda Accord apparently lost control of the car late Saturday night and slammed it into a light post on Newhall Ranch Road.

At least two of the victims, both juveniles, were thrown from the car in the collision about 10:15 p.m. Saturday at Newhall Ranch Road near where it changes to Golden Valley Road, sheriff’s officials said Sunday.

Paramedics in at least two ambulances treated victims at the scene.

Unconfirmed reports indicated the girls were all Canyon High School students, and that the one most seriously hurt was a senior. Canyon High’s graduation is scheduled Thursday.

The victims were taken to two separate regional hospitals, Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s Deputy Josh Dubin said.
“One of them had a serious head injury,” he added.

Names and conditions of the victims were not available Sunday.

Deputies closed both sides of Newhall Ranch Road at Bouquet Canyon Road about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, and the intersection remained closed for about an hour.
