A Valencia cyclist suffered a broken leg and other injuries last weekend after colliding with a car in Saugus, emergency response officials said Tuesday.

Shortly before 8:10 a.m. Saturday, paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a traffic collision on Copper Hill Drive at Kenton Lane involving a bicyclist and a car, said Fire Department Inspector Scott Miller.

The cyclist, who works as a jailer’s assistant, suffered a broken leg, pain to his lower back, and cuts above his right ear and to both hands, said Traffic Investigator Deputy Jeff Maag of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The driver of the Hyundai Veloster involved in the crash was not reported to be injured.

The car and the bicycle were traveling in the same direction on Copper Hill when the crash occurred, Miller said.

The cyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. His name was not released.
