The event honors 32 local young people for showing leadership and overcoming obstacles in their lives.
The high school and junior high students who will be recognized are selected by their own teachers and principals throughout the year from local city schools for their dedication, work ethic and actions
"These 32 kids are being recognized for their hard work and outstanding character and we are pleased to commend them," Mayor Frank Ferry said. "Their actions set a positive example for their peers and they are role models for the entire community."
The students will receive commendations from United States Congressman Howard Buck McKeon, Senator George Runner, Senator Tony Strickland, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, the city of Santa Clarita and local businesses.
The Activities Center is located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350.
