A man who collapsed of an apparent heart attack on a bike path near Camp Plenty Sunday is alive after paramedics applied cardio-pulmonary rescue techniques to revive him, emergency response officials said.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a man who collapsed on the bike path that runs parallel to Soledad Canyon Road, in Canyon Country, said Fire Department Supervisor Art Marrujo.

The man was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, he said.

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the same call, said Sgt. Rich Nagler.

“He apparently had a heart attack or some sort of medical condition,” he said. “They performed CPR and were able to get a pulse and they took him to the hospital.”

The man’s identity and age were not disclosed.

“The last I heard he’s still there at the hospital,” Nagler said at 12:35 p.m. Sunday.
