The city of Santa Clarita invites residents 50 years of age and older to participate in "Open Play Pickleball" on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the city's Sports Complex Gymnasium.

The classes will be held weekly beginning May 6.

Open Play Pickleball is a slower paced indoor tennis game geared towards older adults who enjoy recreation that utilizes strategy over power. Classes are $2 for adults younger than 55 and $1 for adults 55 years or older.

"The city prides itself in providing quality recreational opportunities for residents of all ages," Councilwoman Marsha Mclean said. "Open Play Pickleball is a low-impact activity that allows seniors to enjoy a physical exercise that utilizes brainpower over brawn."

The Sports Complex Gymnasium is located at 20870 Centre Pointe Parkway.
