The city of Santa Clarita invites residents to hop on their bikes and participate in one of two community bike rides from Central Park on Saturday, April 18 to kick off the city's "Earth Day Festival and 22nd Annual Arbor Day Celebration."

The two rides, presented by Newhall Bicycle Company, will leave from Central Park at 8:15 a.m.

The bike rides include a Road Ride covering 40 miles for more experienced cyclists and a 10-mile leisurely Family Ride for residents of all ages and experience levels.

Newhall Bicycle Company, located on the corner of Eighth Street and Railroad Avenue, will provide free bicycle pre-ride service checks for participants planning to attend the Earth Day event after the community ride.

"The community bike rides are a great way to celebrate Earth Day, as well as enjoy the city's extensive off-street bike trail system," Councilmember Laurene Weste said. "It also gives residents the chance to use an eco-friendly form of transportation to the Earth Day Festival and 22nd Annual Arbor Day Celebration."

Participants can valet-park their bike for free upon arrival back at Central Park.

Residents of all ages are invited to attend the bike ride and all participants must wear protective helmets.

The Earth Day Festival and 22nd Annual Arbor Day Celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.
