The first ever Barking Picnic hosted by the Barking Flowers of the Mountain Communities was pawtastic. On Saturday, March 22 over 100 people attended the picnic in Frazier Park. The Barking Flowers hosted this event to raise awareness and funds for the Dogs on Deployment program (a 501(c)(3) national non-profit which provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner's service commitments).

The Barking Flowers team put together a grand day with face painting, pet adoptions, a pet contest and more. We had a photographer from Donegee Media who took professional family portraits and event coverage. By the end of the picnic, we raised more than $250 from donations.

Attendee Rena Talley said: "Feeling the love, devotion and commitment at the Barking Picnic gave me hope that we as a community can come together to help animals and people in need. Witnessing all that the Barking Flowers has done, restores my faith in humanity. Thank you Barking Flowers for putting the furbabies first.

We would like to thank Harriet Filoteo, Cuddy Creek Pet Supply Co., Jeff Mowry from Jennings Reality, Kim Bailey, Frazier Park Lumber & Hardware, Lazy Dog Cafe of Valencia, Ellen Langsfeld, Natasha Hungersford from Camp St. Nicholas and Tagg Pet Tracker. Without local and community support, our event would not have been the bark of the town!"

Please check out our facebook page at as all family photos and event coverage will be proudly displayed. We are barking up another event in the summer and look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts for any nonprofits that need aid.
